WHY WE EXIST

I wanted to take a moment to share a bit about why I started Active Kids Alliance, and why it’s so close to my heart. Growing up, sports played a huge role in shaping who I am today. From soccer to tennis to running track in high school, these activities provided me with invaluable life lessons, discipline, and lifelong friendships. Sports taught me teamwork, perseverance, and the joy of both competing and improving.  But most importantly, they gave me an outlet to grow, learn, and have fun.

As we all know, though, sports can be expensive. Many kids who would benefit so much from participating in sports are simply unable to afford the fees, equipment, or travel costs. That's where Active Kids Alliance comes in.
I wanted to create an opportunity for kids, especially those who might not otherwise have the means, to experience the power and benefits of sports. Through our two main events, which take place in July San Diego 4th of July 5k and in November the North County Turkey Trot, we raise funds that go directly towards scholarships, allowing children to participate in various sports programs. It’s our way of giving back, ensuring that no child misses out on the chance to develop, thrive, and enjoy the same experiences I was fortunate enough to have.

Having played both tennis and soccer in college (and still playing tennis to this day), I know first-hand how transformative sports can be. Exercise, socialization, and healthy competition are fundamental to personal development, and I believe every child should have the chance to experience that.

This mission is bigger than just one person – it's about community, support, and giving kids the tools they need to succeed. Let’s come together to uplift one another, encourage those who need it most, and open doors to opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach.
